TrigJig creator is shortlisted for ‘Entrepreneur of the Year” in the Cornwall Business Awards 2016.
Now in it’s 11th year, the Cornwall Business Awards are a celebration of innovation, achievement and entrepreneurial spirit within the Cornish Business Community.
Dan set-up HICI Ltd and developed the tools from the Pool Innovation Centre in Redruth and is chuffed to be shortlisted for the award. This achievement coincides with a key milestone in his entrepreneurial journey with the TrigJig tools set for launch in May 2016.
With an analytical mindset and a background in plastering, Dan refined the idea for TrigJig whilst renovating his Victorian Terrace in Redruth: ‘There just had to be a more efficient way to fit coving and skirting board when your walls are out of square’, he thought. After extensive research and time spent testing the idea, Dan left his PhD to pursue his inventions and approached Makernow at Falmouth University for support. They provided an EU business assist grant and helped develop the proof of concept. Then the journey really began!
Just over a year later, the tools are now in production following a hugely successful Crowdcube campaign, where Dan secured £125k of investment in just 9 days. Demand for the innovative products is strong, with over half a million views in a month on the TrigJig Facebook videos alone and daily requests from eager buyers coming from as far as Japan.
It’s a fantastic achievement to be shortlisted and the HICI team are justly proud. The winner of the award will be announced at the Cornwall Business Awards gala dinner taking place on 12th May 2016 at St Mellion International Resort.
